Symbols slicken moss on ancient stone
Carved by hands who came from ages long gone

Here in the dark of the dying year
Fires burn bright against the oldest fear
Huddle up tight life hides from the cold
The cruel teeth of winter scraping flesh from bone

The low sun sneaks through
Skeletal trees and branches
Shadows dance slow
Languid across the forest floor
Tangled barbed briers writhe
In murk that cuts chill to the bone

Scarring the flesh
As much as the soul

Desperate eyes search a lonely horizon
Frost bitten hands clasp each other tight
The jaws of the long night snap shut
On the last dregs of sunlight

Here at the end of all warmth
Cold breath mists in fog
Icy needles prick the skin
Crystal fantoms dance and slice
The cruel teeth of winter
Pierce from deep within

PSA: if there was an album you heard a couple years ago and thought it was ok, listen to it again and you might love it. That's what happened to me with this album. I cannot fathom why it didn't stick with me back then. Same thing happened with Decoherence's Unitarity for that matter. Matten
